About Gio
Hi, I’m Gio! I am a competitive chess player (Rated 2000+) and currently serve as the 1st Board for the University of Georgia Chess Team. I have won multiple tournaments and cash prizes, and I act as a lead instructor for over 30+ students at my university chess club. Beyond the chessboard, I am a professional UGA Peer Tutor and a student in the Morehead Honors College. My professional training has taught me how to break down complex subjects into simple, easy-to-understand concepts. I believe that whether you are solving a math problem or calculating a checkmate, confidence is key. I am patient, structured, and dedicated to helping my students not just memorize answers, but actually understand the "why" behind them. I look forward to helping you reach your goals! I’m a huge chess nerd who also happens to be the 1st Board player for the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!). I currently have a rating over 2000 and have won multiple cash prizes, but I promise I’m not scary or strict. My goal is simple: I want to help you get those 'aha!' moments. I know exactly how frustrating it is to get stuck at a rating plateau or lose a game because of one silly blunder. That is why I don't just lecture, we work together to fix your specific weak spots. Because I also work as a professional Peer Tutor at UGA, I know how to explain complex strategies without making them boring or confusing.
