About Aneeka

I offer private swimming lessons in London, backed by over 20 years of teaching experience and a lifelong passion for the water. I’ve been swimming competitively from a young age in Kenya and the UK (training alongside ex-Olympians), and I transitioned that passion into teaching in 2004.

I continued sharing my love for swimming throughout college and university before moving into full-time instruction. For nearly a decade, I helped build and train teaching teams across multiple Virgin Active swim schools, mentoring instructors and delivering high-quality swimming lessons to children and adults of all abilities.

Today, I specialise in private swimming lessons, from beginners and nervous swimmers to stroke correction and technique refinement. I also have experience teaching HNW and UHNW families, providing discreet, professional swim lessons in private residences.

Lessons are available in your own pool or at my welcoming swim space in Winchmore Hill (N21). Sessions typically last 30–60 minutes — the perfect amount of time to build water confidence and skills.

Why choose me? Because for me, swimming is about more than technique. It’s about building lifelong confidence, ensuring safety, and creating a positive relationship with the water that lasts well beyond the lesson itself.

Whether you're looking for private swim lessons, adult swimming lessons or baby and children’s swimming lessons, I’d love to help.

Let’s connect and dive in.

Swim Lessons in a Supportive, Calm Environment

Learning to swim should feel relaxed, encouraging, and enjoyable. I offer personalised swim lessons for all ages – from babies (6+ weeks) through to adults – with each session tailored to the individual swimmer.

Every person learns differently, so I adapt lessons to suit your pace and comfort in the water. My approach is gentle and supportive, helping swimmers build confidence first and then develop skills naturally.

I also use Hypnotherapy and NLP techniques inspired by how the brain learns best, which can help swimmers understand movement in the water more quickly and feel more comfortable as they progress.

Lessons can be playful and exploratory for little ones, and focused on overcoming fear or building technique for older swimmers and adults. The aim is always the same: helping you or your child feel safe, capable, and happy in the water.

Lesson options

Babies
Toddlers and preschoolers
Older children
Adults learning to swim or building confidence

If you have your own pool, I’m happy to travel and teach swimmers of any age.

I also teach at my Winchmore Hill location on Tuesday and Friday mornings, which currently works well for toddlers, preschoolers, and adults.

If you’re curious or would like to chat about lessons, feel free to get in touch. I’m always happy to talk through what might work best for you.

  • What age did you start playing sport? Tell us about this time or moment in your life.

I started swimming when I was very young in Mombasa, Kenya. Water has always felt like home to me. Some of my earliest memories are of being in the pool before or after school, learning discipline through early mornings and discovering that quiet confidence comes from improving little by little each day. Later, training in the UK alongside ex-Olympians really shaped me — it showed me what dedication, resilience and true love for sport look like at the elite level.
  • What are your favourite sports; those that you practice at a high level, a simple hobby, and a sport that you'd still like to discover?

Swimming will always be my first love — it’s the sport I’ve practised at a competitive level and now teach professionally.
As a hobby, I enjoy staying active in ways that keeps my mind and body healthy.
A sport I’d still love to explore more deeply is open-water swimming in different parts of the world — there’s something incredibly grounding about swimming in nature.
  • What gives you the motivation and passion to pursue your sport?

I love transformation. I’ve seen firsthand how swimming builds confidence, resilience and self-belief. Watching a nervous child put their face in the water for the first time, or an adult overcome fear and swim independently — that never gets old.
It’s not just about technique; it’s about empowering people for life.
  • Do you have a sporting achievement that you're particularly proud of?

While I’m proud of my competitive background and a Christmas challenge I once swam many moons ago - 40 x 200m Butterfly in a turn around time of (3:15), I’m most proud of the impact I’ve had as a teacher. I have trained many people to become swim teachers, mentored and now teach swimmers privately. Seeing some former students grow into confident swimmers (and even national athletes themselves) is incredibly special.
  • How have your achievements and challenges made you a better sportsperson?

Competitive swimming taught me discipline and mental strength. Teaching taught me patience, empathy and the ability to break down complex skills into simple ones.
Every challenge — whether it was tough training sessions or helping someone overcome a deep fear of water — has strengthened my understanding that progress looks different for everyone. That perspective made me not only a better swimmer, but a more compassionate teacher.
  • If you had to go for a jog with a famous athlete, who would you choose? And what questions would you ask them?

I’d probably choose Simone Biles. I really admire her resilience and the way she’s handled pressure at the very top of her sport.
I’d ask her how she keeps her confidence and focus when things feel overwhelming, and how she rebuilds trust in herself after setbacks. As a swim teacher, I see how much mindset affects performance in the water—whether someone is learning to float or learn a new skill —so I think her perspective on mental strength would be really inspiring.
  • How do you help people stay motivated?

I focus on small wins. Progress in swimming can feel slow, especially when putting movements together. So I celebrate every breakthrough — whether that’s improved breathing, better body position, or simply feeling more relaxed in the water.
I also tailor lessons carefully. When sessions feel achievable, enjoyable and personal, motivation follows naturally.
  • What makes you a Superprof in sports?

Over 20 years of teaching experience, a competitive background, and experience teaching a wide range of clients — including HNW and UHNW families — have given me both technical expertise and emotional intelligence.
But more than that, I genuinely care. I teach swimming with warmth, patience and high standards. My goal isn’t just to help someone swim — it’s to help them feel confident, capable and proud of themselves in the water.
And that’s something I never take for granted.
