About Derek
I am a recent Cornell University graduate with a degree in Government. I am currently pursuing doctoral study in Psychology. I am passionate about teaching and learning - I try to make every lesson as fun and engaging as possible for students. Whether preparing for the SATs, working to improve writing or reading or quantitative skills, or looking to begin guitar, I am always looking to make the learning experience a dynamic one, thinking outside the box and finding ways to push students to expand their thinking and problem solving abilities.

My approach is to tailor my lessons to meet the student's needs and targets. My goal is to become a stronger, more understanding, creative, and flexible teacher with each lesson. Given the opportunity, I am happy to send you a detailed plan to match your objectives of how I plan to improve the student's performance and make the learning process as fun and interactive as I can. I can drill down and put together plans on tackling standardized testing or serve as a helpful complement to online learning as a fun tutor and mentor and as someone who can inspire and ignite a passion for learning for the sake of learning (and finding creative, innovative ways to problem solve).
