About Rick
Rick Udler is a critically acclaimed guitarist with over 25 years of international experience as a performer, composer, and educator. His work has been praised for its precision, depth, and musical sensitivity by renowned publications including Guitar Player Magazine, The Lansing State Journal, and Metro Santa Cruz. His style blends the richness of Brazilian music with the soul of blues and jazz, shaped by years living and performing in São Paulo, New Orleans, Miami, and Los Angeles. Rick has recorded and performed with some of Brazil’s finest musicians and collaborated with celebrated lyricist Paulo Cesar Pinheiro. He also produced the final album by legendary Bossa Nova guitarist Paulinho Nogueira. His own recordings, including the award-winning Rhythm & Romance and the instrumental album Papaya, have received glowing reviews in both Brazilian and international press. In addition to an active performance career, Rick has taught guitar to students of all levels across the globe. He has given workshops at respected institutions such as Georgia State University and McNally Smith College of Music. His teaching approach is shaped by a deep understanding of harmony, phrasing, and rhythm, offering students not just technique but true musical fluency. Today, Rick is based in São Paulo where he continues to teach and perform, helping students develop their voice on the instrument through a clear and personalized path.
