About Ruhulameen
My name is Ruhul, a university student studying Bachelor of Environmental Biology at the University of Technology Sydney.
I'm in my first year, which means I have just recently completed the Year 12 HSC exams. As such, I'm very familiar with how high school exams are laid out, and what teachers are expecting from students.
I am also very aware that some teachers do not go through the effort to cater to every student's needs, often leaving some people behind and struggling to catch up. My goal is to tackle this problem directly, as I know some students prefer one-on-one lessons, where the teacher will match the pace of the student, and will stop to listen instead of zooming ahead with the content.
Availability (until 27th July):
- Monday to Thursday
- 11am to 5pm
Qualifications:
- HSC Biology; Band 5
- HSC Biology; Received first in course
- Fresh out of high school, familiar with exam layouts
- Currently studying Bachelor of Environmental Biology at UTS
- A valid Working With Children Check (WWCC)

Typical Lesson Length:

Teaching Methods:
- Each lesson will begin with a warm-up to build the student's confidence, with either a review of the previous lesson or basic questions that highlight the underlying concepts
- After the warm-up, I will introduce the new material for the lesson, building on knowledge the student already has, and routinely checking if the student is understanding the new concepts
- Towards the end of the lesson, I will ask the student questions to check their understanding, not just by having them repeat my words, but applying the concepts to certain situations
- To wrap up, I will reflect on the major points of the lesson to help it stick in the student's mind
- Additionally, I will provide optional practice questions for the student to complete in their own time
Tailored Lessons:
- Having the lessons split into different sections allows me to regularly check in with the student to see how well they are following along, and whether I should slow down or speed up
- Additionally, I will give time to students who prefer to take written notes as opposed to just listening
- For visual learners, I will write important notes and draw diagrams on a digital whiteboard
- Rather than just outright explaining all the new concepts, I will ask the student questions to guide them towards the correct answer, allowing them to form their own connections with information they are already comfortable with
