About Riya
I get it.
School can be tough.
I'm still a student too! As an English second-year college student, I get it. I wasn't in your shoes very long ago. I think that's why we'll get along! I understand what it's like to be a student and how times have changed when it comes to what the learning environment looks like in a classroom. I am here to listen, understand you, and then figure out the best approach to teaching.
I have taken pretty much every English course there is to offer in K-12 so I'm also very familiar with how the curriculum works now and how it's become much more modernized. I am an English major in college but before that, I was in multiple AP literature and honors courses.

My teaching method is effective because I believe that each student is different. I truly believe that there are multiple ways to learn and I want to work with my students to figure out what works for them!
In the past, my kids and I have used games, colorful flashcards, songs, and other more creative methods of learning to help them excel at their work.
I've also had kids who prefer a more analytical and straightforward method of teaching so that's exactly what I do.
I am here to listen to my students, adapt my lesson plans, and work WITH YOU to make learning a fun environment to be in.
My job as a tutor is to not only help you learn skills that you may need at the time we work together but to also develop skills that you can use on your English journey in the future.
My lessons are for K-8th grade.
