Christy started her dance career around age 2 under the tutelage of her mother Billie Jean Franklin. Billie danced and choreographed with Uhuru African Dance Troop of Columbus Ohio and taught African Dance at OSU. As an adult Christy worked side by side with Billie dancing and choreographing for Imani African, modern and hip hop dance Troop of SC and GA. One of Christy's most notable accomplishments as the principal dancer of Imani occurred when she lead them to the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta GA. When you look at the 1996 Olympic opening and closing ceremonies the dancers in gold Afrocentric costumes and makeup, doing the mesmerizing Afrocentric movements are Imani under Christy's creative vision, skill, artistry and pageantry. I was no longer dancing by the time Christy accomplished this but as her cousin we danced together for years.
