About Allison
During the eight months of gap year I took because I came from South Korea and we have a semester difference from the USA, I've worked in English Academy for elementary students. I've taught them grammar, and English reading and writing. I've tutored two middle school students who were each first and the third year students, of Korean Literature, Mathematics, and English. Their score increased after my tutoring on each 14 and 20 scores on scale of 100 for total score.
Before working when I was in highschool, I volunteered for teaching elementary school students with low income English. As a leader of this volunteer group, I designed the presentation, chose English children books to read, the related activities, and a word quiz for their homework.
After volunteering for them for a year, I handed over my responsibility as a club leader and decided to build my own Korean and English Literature class for 12 to 15 years old students. I selected 12 poems and 5 novels to cover in class. At first, the class was mostly a lecture and group activity of research and presentation. But after building experiences, I focused more on how students could participate in the class and designed quizzes, story building activities, and adaptation of variety of materials. Eventually, this class lasted for two years as not only for Korean and English literature class, but a study-help-class-slash-presentation-feedback-class.

I am a good listener and a friendly mentor, and an acute critic. I design classes, considering what could be best for students, trying out flexible class styles and keep communicating with the students of their needs and concerns.
On the first session, we will talk about your need and I'll advise the direction of how to plan your study schedule and the study method. Thus, we'll design your class that will most fit you together.
I'll prepare presentation, give syllabus and homework to expand your understanding. I'll prepare my best.
If you are concerned with discussion or presentation, I'll be your mock-audience and give advice of how you can advance your performance. If you are working on an essay, I'll discuss a topic and idea you want to write or edit your essay. I'll prepare writing exercise and sometimes teach you literary techniques you can apply to your writing.
