About Ailís

I am a third-year Cardiff University student studying Maths and Music, specialising in methods of applied mathematics, coding theory and game theory. I have three years tutoring experience both online and in person, teaching students of all abilities. I also take part in university schemes to help and guide younger students.

About the lesson

I like to spend part of our first lesson learning what a student would gain most from my time with them. This might be anything from exam techniques and confidence building to conceptual understanding. I work with my students to find what works best for them and what they should cover. Some students prefer choosing the topics we will cover, while others get more from a tutor-led course of study. I then start each topic with an explanation, examples, and practice questions for the student before finishing up topics with a quiz to consolidate learnings.

Ailís has a genuine knack for balancing the needs of student across all ability levels in groups and manages to see to the heart of what is preventing someone from understanding a given topic.

She always has resources to help work through an issue and can approach a problem from multiple angles to find a best fit for students.
