About Philani
Philani is a 23 year old bcom Accounting student at the University of Zululand, in South Africa. He's always had a passion for the English language, since his younger days when he was in a rural primary school. This prompted his parents to organise extra English tutorials for him at the tender age of 6 years old, and then he moved to a township when he was 8 years old, where he attended a multiracial primary school with English as the home language.
Philani's passion for teaching found him in high school where he would often be chosen by his Accounting teacher to lead the lessons, meaning he always ended up tutoring his classmates for this subject and two others, Economics and Maritime Studies. He has chosen to not ignore this fire that burns inside of him, by applying to be an English teacher in the public schools of South Korea, and he is set to begin his new job in February 2023 after finishing his bcom degree in November 2022.

In my classroom, everyone is equal. From the beginner English speaker to the advanced English writer, we are all equal because we are all human first. That being said, everyone in my classroom gets the same level of respect and recognition for their progress.
I employ the "conversational" style of teaching English to beginners, where we have an ordinary conversation and I outline any new words and phrases that you could use, this way you take only a few lessons to be able to express yourself in English confidently. Don't worry, you are allowed to make mistakes, because it is through those mistakes that we learn more about the language and even learn more about ourselves.
