About Cailin
My journey with the Spanish language began at eleven within the confines of a classroom, where my Spanish teacher inspired a love for the language and Latin American cultures. This passion led me to spend a transformative five weeks in Argentina and a gap year in Ecuador as a Rotary Youth Exchange Student.
I graduated in May 2018 with a B.A. in International Studies and Spanish Studies from the University of San Francisco. During my undergraduate years, I studied in Bolivia and Peru, interned in Nicaragua, returned to Ecuador, and traveled to Chile. Additionally, I volunteered in a bilingual after-school program, tutored peers in Spanish, and interned at nonprofit organizations.
After graduation, I worked in Guatemala through a Princeton in Latin America fellowship with ADISA, an NGO advocating for persons with disabilities. My efforts in communication and fundraising earned international recognition for the organization’s Inclusive Education Program.
Following four years in the nonprofit sector, I realized my desire to teach was stronger than ever. I joined the New York City Teaching Fellows and began my master’s in Secondary Spanish Education (7-12) at the City College of New York in June 2022.
As I approach the beginning of my third year of teaching, I am dedicated to instilling a love for language and cultural understanding in my students. My experiences and education have equipped me with the skills and passion needed to be an effective and inspiring tutor.
