About Hutty

As the father of an 11-year-old son with Angelman Syndrome and the Founder/CEO of The Little Angelman Trust, I possess an empathetic understanding of neurodiversity, complex needs, and non-verbal communication. I understand first hand the importance of patience, structure, active listening, and celebrating every small victory. With 20 years of experience as a financial trader, a former professional rugby player, high-level sports coach, and wellbeing initiative leader allows me to bring a dynamic, energetic perspective to learning. Teaching offers a unique opportunity to build academic resilience, financial literacy, and strong character in young people, equipping them with the analytical and life skills needed to navigate a complex world. To be able to develop a genuine enthusiasm for learning is deeply inspiring.

About the lesson

My tutoring approach is built on interactive methods that transform how students learn maths. Using a gradual "I Do, We Do, You Do" framework alongside targeted Socratic questioning, I guide students to uncover solutions themselves, building genuine confidence and those crucial "aha!" moments. Through Diagnostic Error Analysis, we "debug" mistakes together to turn slip-ups into powerful learning opportunities. By turning abstract formulae into intuitive, visual concepts and connecting them to real-world applications, I help students understand the "why" behind the maths, not just the "how." Whether your child needs tailored 1-on-1 pacing to overcome maths anxiety, focused exam prep (GCSE, 11+, Common Entrance) mastering mark schemes and time management, or a total mindset shift, my personalised learning plans turn "I'm bad at maths" into "I can master this!"
