About Anne
I am a Chinese language tutor with a strong academic background and a lifelong love for the Chinese language. I studied Ancient Chinese Literature, Media, and Contemporary Culture, and later completed a Master’s degree in Journalism Studies at Peking University. I also spent 20 years working at a news agency, where language, clarity, and storytelling mattered every day. I am passionate about sharing the beauty and depth of Chinese—from everyday conversation to classical expressions found in ancient texts. I enjoy helping students understand not only the language itself, but also the culture and thinking behind it. I have volunteered teaching Chinese to disadvantaged children, which shaped my patient, empathetic, and encouraging teaching style. I believe everyone can learn when they feel supported and respected. Teaching Chinese is more than a profession for me. It is a way to connect people with culture, history, and confidence.

My lessons are warm, supportive, and designed around your individual goals and learning style. Whether you are a beginner or looking to deepen your Chinese skills, we progress step by step in a relaxed and encouraging environment.
Drawing on my background in Ancient Chinese literature, I enjoy introducing students to the wisdom and beauty of classical Chinese—simple idioms, short passages, and cultural stories—to help you understand not just how Chinese works, but why. These elements are always adapted to your level and interest.
I also bring practical, modern Chinese into lessons, shaped by my many years working in media. Speaking, listening, reading, and writing are taught in a balanced and natural way.
Having volunteered teaching Chinese to disadvantaged children, I am especially patient and attentive, and I believe confidence grows best when learners feel supported. Mistakes are welcomed as part of the learning process.
My aim is to help you enjoy learning Chinese, connect with its culture, and build lasting confidence in using the language.
