About Beth
I am an experienced flute tutor with 15 years of teaching High School, College students, and adults, and I have guided around 300 students so far. My teaching philosophy emphasises patience, encouragement, and personalised learning.
I focus on tone, technique, rhythm, and music theory while helping students explore their own musical style. Lessons are designed to be interactive and enjoyable, combining structured practice with creative exercises and performance opportunities.
I believe that performing and sharing music is an essential part of growth, so I encourage students to participate in concerts, recitals, and competitions.
Many of my students have achieved remarkable progress, gaining confidence and skill through consistent practice and guidance. My goal is to inspire students to enjoy learning, build discipline, and develop a lifelong love for music.

My teaching approach for flute is clear, adaptable, and focused on real-world use. I begin by understanding each student’s musical background, learning style, and goals.
I explain flute techniques such as breathing, embouchure, finger movement, tone control, articulation, and rhythm in a simple and organised manner. I maintain open communication so lessons remain interactive and effective.
I use real-life examples and musical case studies from performances and recordings to help students understand how flute skills are used in real music.
In addition to flute playing, I teach related subjects including music theory, rhythm training, ear training, scale development, sight reading, and basic improvisation. I also guide students on practice routines and performance confidence. My goal is to help students become confident and expressive flute players.
