As a student I struggled when I first started nursing school at 19. I found that I was memorizing the material but not applying it.

During our first session we will discuss you: What you are hoping to achieve, what barriers you are experiencing and a path for how you can be successful.

I met an amazing mentor who help me to understand their is a specific way to study as a nurse. This a unique method helped me become a straight A student in school and even better nurse.

My goal is to identify ways to help students best understand the material, not only for testing purposes but also for their futures as nurses. We will work together to understand the pathology behind disease processes in a fun easy way.
Every person learns differently so individualized plans can be tailored to your needs. Some students benefit from case studys andadditional resources. Let me know if this is sometthing you are intrested in.
I hope to be more than a tutor, I coach my students to build a strong foundation for your professional goals.

  • 1) When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

I developed an interest in nursing early in my life because I’ve always had a strong desire to help others and make a difference in people’s lives. Over the past 18 years as a nurse, that passion has only deepened. My interest in tutoring began when I realized how rewarding it is to guide nursing students through challenging concepts and witness their progress. There’s nothing more fulfilling than seeing a student’s “ah-ha” moment when everything clicks.
  • 2) Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I teach a range of nursing topics including fundamentals, patient assessment, pharmacology, and clinical reasoning. I especially enjoy discussing patient care scenarios that require critical thinking and prioritization—helping students connect theory to practice. The topics I like a little less are those heavy on rote memorization, but I enjoy finding creative ways to make them more engaging and easier to retain.
  • 3) Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

Yes, one of my nursing professors was a major inspiration to me. She had an incredible ability to make complex topics understandable while creating a calm and encouraging learning environment. Her genuine passion for teaching and for nursing deeply influenced my own teaching style and my desire to mentor others.
  • 4) What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

A good tutor must be patient, adaptable, empathetic, and a strong communicator. It’s essential to meet each student where they are, identify their unique learning style, and build their confidence through encouragement and clear explanations. A good tutor doesn’t just teach content—they inspire confidence and critical thinking. It's also important to have a good sense of humor and really enjoy our time.
  • 5) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

During nursing school, I remember struggling with interpreting cardiac rhythms. One of my instructors took the time to sit with me and explain it visually until it finally made sense. That moment stuck with me—it reminded me how powerful individualized teaching can be. Today, I strive to offer that same level of patience and support to my own students.
  • 6) What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

One of the biggest challenges in nursing is balancing the demands of clinical practice with lifelong learning. The healthcare field evolves constantly, and staying current requires dedication and adaptability. Early in my career, I also had to learn how to translate classroom knowledge into practical application—a challenge I now help students overcome through real-world examples and scenarios.
  • 7) Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

My passion is helping nursing students find confidence in themselves and experience those “ah-ha” moments when everything finally comes together. I love teaching because it allows me to blend my years of clinical experience with my desire to educate and inspire others. Earning my Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) this November has only strengthened my commitment to advancing nursing education and supporting the next generation of nurses.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof (besides answering this interview question:-P)?

I bring 18 years of hands-on nursing experience, a DNP education, and a genuine love for helping students succeed. I create a supportive, judgment-free learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. My goal isn’t just to help students pass exams—it’s to help them understand, apply, and believe in themselves. Those “ah-ha” moments are what make me love what I do !
