About Roopa
I hold a B.A. in Economics along with an M.Sc. in Public Policy Analysis, which allowed me to study both economic theory and its application in real governance and social systems. Over 9 years of teaching, I have worked with students from varied academic and professional backgrounds, helping them move from surface-level understanding to deeper economic reasoning. My experience has taught me that clarity and patience matter far more than speed when building true understanding. My teaching philosophy centers on thoughtful explanation and meaningful dialogue. I encourage students to question assumptions, examine real data, and connect abstract models to lived experience. I take time to understand how each learner thinks, adapting explanations to ensure ideas feel logical rather than intimidating. This approach helps students gain confidence in forming and defending their own economic viewpoints. Beyond teaching, I stay actively engaged with policy research, economic reporting, and global development discussions. These interests allow me to bring current, relevant examples into lessons. Teaching economics is fulfilling because I see students gain intellectual independence, learning not just what to think, but how to think critically about the economic forces shaping their world.

Economics becomes powerful when students understand how it explains real choices made by individuals, governments, and institutions. My lessons focus on helping learners grasp the logic behind markets, incentives, and policy decisions rather than memorizing definitions. I guide students through concepts such as supply and demand, consumer behavior, inflation, and economic growth using real-world examples that feel familiar and relevant. Each lesson is designed to build intuition, clarity, and confidence step by step.
At the foundational level, students explore basic economic thinking, opportunity cost, trade-offs, and simple market interactions. Intermediate learners move into elasticity, taxation, market structures, and macroeconomic indicators. Advanced learners examine policy evaluation, economic modeling, and applied case studies that develop structured reasoning. Lessons are discussion-oriented, reflective, and supported by practical examples to deepen understanding.
Through economics, students develop analytical thinking, informed judgment, and the ability to evaluate complex systems calmly. My goal is to help learners become confident interpreters of economic information and thoughtful participants in discussions about society, policy, and global change.
