About Michelle
I bring a rare combination of academic depth and real-world versatility: an M.A. in English Education, a decade of teaching and literacy coaching, and years of mentoring and leading young people as a sports coach and Athletic Director — all reinforced by hands-on experience using data to move struggling students forward. My certification as a children's yoga and mindfulness instructor adds practical, trauma-informed tools for building trust and teaching self-regulation to young people who have experienced adversity. I am equally comfortable challenging an advanced learner and reaching a student who has given up on school. Having worked with economically disadvantaged and multilingual students, I understand that behavior is often communication and that relationships are the foundation of learning. That blend of academic rigor, athletic discipline, and genuine care is what allows me to connect with hard-to-reach students and help them believe in their own potential.

A typical lesson begins with reviewing previous material and identifying the student’s goals or areas of difficulty. I then introduce the new concept, demonstrate how to apply it, and provide opportunities for the student to practice with guidance. I end each lesson by reviewing key takeaways and identifying areas to continue practicing.
What sets me apart is my patience, adaptability, and commitment to helping students build both knowledge and confidence. I strive to create a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning from mistakes.
