About Amanda

Hi! I’m Amanda—a certified K–6 teacher with 10+ years of experience in both classroom and one-on-one settings. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood and Childhood Education with a Mathematics minor, and I’m currently completing my Master’s in Literacy Education. My background includes teaching in a wide range of school settings—urban and rural—and supporting diverse learners, including those with academic and social-emotional challenges. I have extensive experience administering assessments, identifying student needs, and implementing targeted interventions. My approach is strengths-based, empathetic, and tailored to your child’s learning style. Whether your child is behind, struggling with math confidence, or just needs extra practice, I’ll create a safe and supportive environment to help them grow.

About the lesson

My lessons are personalized, engaging, and designed to meet your child right where they are. I focus on building confidence, developing foundational math skills, and making math feel approachable and rewarding. Each session is carefully tailored to your child’s needs—whether they need help catching up, reinforcing classroom learning, or preparing for assessments. Lessons include: • Targeted support in number sense, operations, word problems, and more • Test prep for state assessments, i-Ready, and classroom benchmarks • Hands-on, interactive strategies to promote deep understanding • Clear goals, progress monitoring, and regular parent communication I am well-versed in both New York State and North Carolina standards, and I can quickly become proficient with any state’s curriculum to best support your child. Virtual sessions are highly interactive and flexible to fit your schedule.

Before I started working with Miss Amanda, I didn’t like reading at all. I always thought I was bad at it, and it made me nervous in school. But she explains things in a way that makes sense and we do games and fun activities that make reading way more fun. My teacher is really nice, patient, and never makes me feel bad if I mess up. She’s the best!

Amanda has been an absolute gift to our family. We have been working with her for a few years now and are blessed to have found her! My daughter, Lily, is dyslexic and had always struggled with reading, which deeply impacted her confidence. From the very first session, Amanda created a space where Lily felt safe, supported, and seen. She brings such warmth, empathy, and patience to her teaching and somehow makes every lesson fun and engaging, even when the work is hard. Over time, I watched my daughter’s self-esteem grow, and her identity as a reader completely shift. She no longer says she ‘can’t read’… she tells people she’s learning to read, and she’s proud of it. Amanda is not just a tutor; she’s a wonderful teacher and mentor. Amanda has a gift in making reading fun and successful!

Amanda has been a wonderful tutor for my kids! She’s patient, encouraging, and knows exactly how to keep lessons fun and engaging. My kids are 8 and 6 and we first started working with Amanda through her university, but we decided to continue over the summer to help our kids retain the skills they had learned. Our children’s confidence and fluency have improved so much. Highly recommend!
