About Amanda
I am a Literacy Tutor for the DC Public School system, I have 9+ years of tutoring experience with students from all grades and walks of life. I have taught approximately 75 children in my experience and that number continues to grow as my success rates continue to SOAR! I have a Bachelors of Science degree from Towson University in Psychology. My undergrad research was mostly in the subject of Child Psychology, focusing on the development of children from both a cognitive and behavioral perspective. I have also done a plethora of research on extrinsic and intrinsic motivation. My tutoring services have been LIFE CHANGING for so many students that everyone else seems to have given up on. I have been considered "talented and brilliant" by many when they witness my rapport with my students.

My teaching method depends on the student that I am working with at the moment. I understand that there is no "one size fits all" for my methodologies because every student learns in their own way. I initiate "success plans" for each student during our first session. This is my way of assessing the students learning styles, any learning disabilities or lack there of, and how enthusiastic they are about the subject in which I'm tutoring. I love to remind my students that while we may not reach our goal as soon as we would like, we must celebrate every step closer, all progress is GREAT PROGRESS.
