About Angel
I am a Ph.D. student in Linguistics with a Master’s degree in Education, a Bachelor’s in Economics, a teacher’s college certificate, and a CSFL certificate. I was awarded a student scholarship by Brock University and am an enthusiastic, thorough, and responsible teacher.
Combining my background in business and education, I deliver engaging, motivating, and effective Mandarin classes. I teach Mandarin at Global Affairs Canada, Carleton University in Ottawa, offering instruction in both simplified and traditional Chinese, pinyin, and Zhuyin. My students range from elementary school learners to professionals across various sectors.
Past and current clients include civil servants, McCarthy Tétrault law firm, Organika, and Companion Animal Hospital, etc. I’ve also taught Business English at universities China and Taiwan, and previously worked as a merchandiser manager and sales manager in China, as well as a PR manager in a law firm in Hong Kong and Shenzhen.
I am fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese, English, Hokkien, and intermediate Shanghainese, and I’m currently learning French and Japanese, with an interest in Spanish and Korean.
