Uma is a good teacher. She teaches then building blocks of the Sinhala language through slides. She also records some of lessons and sends to the videos for you to practice the sounds. She is patient and explains things clearly.

I had 14 lessons in the Sinhalese language with Uma. Uma was a great teacher because she understands the framework and science behind effective learning. This makes it a lot easier to progress in her lessons.

Uma also really cares about the results of her teaching and whether you actually learn with her.

She's also relaxed and isn't too pushy with her learning - which is well balanced with her genuine determination to help you learn effectively.

Overall, Uma is a patient, intelligent and focused teacher who I was very lucky to have as a teacher.

I was struggling to find a sinhalese teacher for my 2 children. Living in the UK and them being half english and half Sri Lankan we were keen for them to have a connection with Sri Lanka. We found Uma via a community Facebook page and after several conversations with her about how we wanted the children to learn we decided it was a right fit.
