As a student, I always wanted to have classes with the characteristics that I present below, that's why you will find the following elements in my classes: 1) PEDAGOGY: Didactic, dynamic and participative resources and tools. 2) TYPE OF LEARNING: Significant, functional, integrative, contextual, problem-based and with a practical approach. 3) LEVELS: Classes for beginners, undergraduate and postgraduate students including Master's and Doctorate. Up-to-date topics and concepts of the highest scientific level are addressed. 4) OTHERS: Concrete and Emphatic Classes in the Essentials of each subject. Promotion of student participation in order to put the knowledge they have acquired to the test. All of this by solving exercises that INTEGRATE several topics and enhancing student's reasoning, deduction, association and logic skills (among others).

  • 1) When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

    1. My interest in these disciplines began during my school years, when I discovered my fascination with understanding how cells, tissues, and organs communicate and coordinate through hormonal regulation. I became captivated by how genes regulate protein expression to maintain the intricate structure of life. The perfection of these processes amazed me and resonated deeply within one of the most intimate parts of my being.
  • 2) Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

    2. Epigenetics, cellular signaling (whether hormonal or of any other type), and biochemistry are my greatest passions. I find it fascinating to explore how cells communicate and coordinate at the molecular level to regulate complex processes such as development, regeneration, and cancer, as well as how the environment can influence gene expression in these processes. This is just a glimpse of the many exciting topics within these fields, and it would take many pages to fully describe all the fascinating areas I am drawn to. That said, I find organic reaction mechanisms a bit less enjoyable.
  • 3) Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

    3. Life itself is my greatest influence. I strive to emulate the characteristics that life embodies in my teaching: adaptability, versatility, dynamism, evolution, beauty, harmony, the capacity for wonder, and joy, among many others. On a personal note, I fondly remember my 10th-grade biology teacher, who left a lasting impact on me by showing me the beauty and grandeur that reside in science. Her deep love for scientific rigor and her constant drive to challenge us intellectually-encouraging us not just to memorize concepts but to deduce and integrate them at a higher academic level-truly inspired me.
  • 4) What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

    4. A love for nature, a passion for lifelong learning, seeing oneself always as a student of nature and of God's Creative Hand, pedagogical skills, critical thinking, scientific curiosity, and empathy.
  • 5) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

    5. During both my undergraduate and graduate studies, I had the opportunity to study gene expression as a result of chromatin remodeling. These molecular processes were so perfectly intricate that they brought me to the verge of tears. At that moment, I felt as though I had taken a step closer to encountering that which I have always sought through science-the ineffable nature of life itself (an intentionally redundant phrase). It was, in a way, an encounter with God's Creative Hand, with perfection, and the vast complexity of molecular life.
  • 6) What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

    6. Absolutely. There were many times when I struggled to connect concepts or truly understand them. This was likely because the approach often involved memorization rather than understanding these concepts as natural results of the properties of substances, tissues, or organs. Frequently, these concepts weren't contextualized, which made it harder to grasp them in depth. For this reason, in my classes, I focus on helping students see the connections between complex or abstract concepts and their everyday applications or relevance in various fields.
  • 7) Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

    7. I am deeply passionate about learning sciences through engaging and striking experiments, as well as about science communication. I enjoy teaching complex concepts through such experiments to make science more accessible and enjoyable for everyone-even for those who do not plan to work in science-related fields. In addition, I love soccer and music, which is why I'm part of my university's soccer team, and I also enjoy playing both classical and electric guitar.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions :-P) ?

    8. I am truly passionate about sharing knowledge and life experiences with a sense of wonder, from a place of passion and a deep understanding of the greater significance behind what is learned. My teaching experience, both at the university level and in private tutoring, allows me to adapt my lessons to each individual student, whether they are just starting or an aspiring researcher. My dynamic, problem-based, and contextualized approach ensures that learning is not only effective but meaningful. Beyond imparting knowledge, I strive to ignite my students' passion for science and motivate them to reach their full potential.
