About Alex
I have 7+ years of tutoring experience in English Composition and the Sciences. I have tutored in Biology, English Composition l & ll, General Chemistry, and College Algebra. Currently, I am a student peer tutor at my college tutoring students in English and basic math. I understand what it is like to struggle with concepts and subject materials so I know that having someone teach it to you differently is important. I love using different learning methods to teach students and try my best to be a friend that students can engage in during our lessons. I have worked with different students from different backgrounds and have learned to connect with each of them by getting to know them. When it comes to tutoring, my approach is to be a friend. I believe that students should feel comfortable when talking to their tutors and should be able to ask questions. I always try to make the lessons interactive and engaging. I think the best way for students to learn is if they are given a gentle push in the right direction. I let my students ask me questions and I ask them questions back to get them to understand critically the subject at hand. I always want to know about my students to make sure I connect with them on a personal level. This allows me to reach students on a deeper level.
