About Lisa
Hello! My name is Lisa, and I’m excited to be your tutor. I have always had a passion for teaching and learning, and I believe that education is about more than just acquiring knowledge—it’s about discovering your unique strengths and finding joy in the learning process.
I hold an undergraduate degree in English and Human Development and a Master’s in Education, and these experiences have shaped my understanding of how people learn at different stages of life. I’ve worked with students of all ages, from young children just beginning their educational journey to adults looking to further their skills and understanding.
I love teaching because I find it incredibly rewarding to witness the moment when a challenging concept finally clicks for a student. There’s a spark of confidence that comes from understanding, and I want to help each of my students experience that. I am here to support, guide, and challenge you to think critically, ask questions, and explore the world around you.

I encourage students to ask questions and to think critically about the subject matter, promoting a deeper understanding rather than rote memorization.
To assess progress, I regularly use formative assessments such as quick quizzes, interactive games, and discussion-based evaluations. These methods allow me to identify areas that may need more attention and adjust my teaching strategies accordingly.
Typical Lesson Structure (40 minutes)
1. Warm-Up (5 minutes):
• Start with a brief review of the previous lesson or a warm-up activity to engage the student and activate prior knowledge.
• Set the lesson’s objectives so the student knows what to expect.
2. Introduction to New Topic (10 minutes):
• Present the main concepts or skills for the day using visual aids, examples, or a short demonstration.
• Engage the student by relating the new topic to their interests or previous knowledge.
3. Guided Practice (15 minutes):
• Work through examples together, gradually increasing complexity.
• Encourage questions, provide explanations, and correct misunderstandings in real-time.
4. Independent Practice (5 minutes):
• Allow the student to try problems or tasks on their own while I observe and guide as needed.
• Provide feedback and reinforcement.
5. Review and Wrap-Up (5 minutes):
• Summarize key points of the lesson, answer any final questions, and preview the next lesson.
• Offer encouragement and highlight any improvements made during the session.
Qualifications and Experience
I hold an undergraduate degree in English and Human Development, providing a solid foundation in both language and understanding how individuals learn and grow. In addition, I have a Master’s in Education, which equips me with advanced strategies for instruction, curriculum design, and assessment. My academic background has allowed me to develop strong skills in communication, lesson planning, and differentiating instruction to meet the diverse needs of my students.
I have experience working with a wide range of age groups, from young children to adults. This background enables me to adapt my teaching methods to different developmental stages and learning styles, making my lessons both effective and engaging.

• Young learners (ages 5-12): Focus on foundational skills, engaging activities, and building confidence in reading, writing, and basic study habits.
