About Christina
I'm a certified English teacher with a degree in English Education from the University of Delaware, currently pursuing my master’s in Teaching at NYU. I work with middle and high school students to build confidence and skill in reading and writing, and I truly believe that—with the right support—anyone can grow as a reader and writer. Above all, I'm passionate about helping students form meaningful connections with literacy—not just as academic tasks, but as lifelong skills that can be both empowering and joyful. I'm committed to each student’s growth and aim to help them develop confidence not only in their literacy abilities, but in themselves.

My sessions are personalized and supportive. In terms of reading comprehension development, I work to meet students where they are and help them grow more and more every day. I'm very experienced with Reading Level Assessments, Lexical Ranges, etc. to ensure that I can cultivate a reading plan that is tailored and unique to the student. Additionally, my approach may even foster a genuine love for reading through providing autonomy for students over their literature choices based on their own interests. I believe that there is a book out there for everyone. I’ve studied a wide range of literature including British and American, from writers like William Shakespeare to Alexander Pope. I’m also well-versed in many texts that students come across often in schools today, otherwise known as canonical texts. A few examples of these works include The Lord of the Flies by William Golding, Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne, etc. My content knowledge in this area allows me to support students with major projects, essays, and assessments where these works play a prominent role in the unit being taught. When it comes to writing, I support students in developing all the elements that contribute to strong, cohesive work. I guide them through every stage of the writing process—from brainstorming and drafting to revising and finalizing. I emphasize mechanics—grammar, punctuation, and structure—so students learn to identify and correct their own errors, rather than relying solely on others to proofread for them. I also teach proper formatting and citation styles like MLA to prepare students for producing college-level, scholarly writing. Finally, I work closely with students on content development, helping them strengthen their ideas and techniques across a range of genres—from formal argumentative essays to creative pieces like short stories.
