About Bárbara
I hold a degree in English Language Studies and a degree in Psychology, and I have been teaching English for over 9 years.
I’ve lived in both England and Switzerland, which made me even more passionate about communication and language learning. Besides Portuguese and English, I also speak some German and I’m currently studying Japanese as well. Because I’m also a language learner myself, I understand how challenging (and sometimes frustrating) the process can be, trust me.
That being said, my background in Psychology also helps me better understand how people learn, deal with frustration, and build confidence over time, which I bring directly into my teaching approach :)

Hi there :) I’m Barbara, a Brazilian English teacher with 9+ years of experience teaching English and preparing students for international proficiency exams such as IELTS, FCE, CAE and CPE.
I have lived in England for several years, so I understand not only the language itself, but also the cultural, academic and professional challenges Brazilians face when living abroad. Because of that, I specialise in teaching Brazilians living abroad who need English for work, university and proficiency exams, as well as helping them communicate more naturally and confidently in real-world situations.
My lessons are personalised and goal-oriented, whether you are preparing for an important exam, improving your professional communication skills or getting ready for interviews. I focus heavily on fluency, speaking confidence and grammar, always adapting lessons to each student’s individual needs and learning style.
Alongside my background in English Language Studies, I also have a degree in Psychology, which helps me create structured and supportive lessons focused on real progress and long-term confidence.
