About Kate
I'm Kate. I was Head Girl at my sixth form and I have a passion for English and Business, the combination which has led me to studying for a Law degree in a prestigious university.
This is a secret between me and you, I love teaching. I want to be a lawyer, but really after a decade or so I want to go into a secondary school to teach English or Business. Pre-warning, I get really into what I'm teaching. If you're learning Gatsby please be aware that I won't stop talking about the 'green light' and for Streetcar I'm one of the few people who actually admire Blanche Du Bois. Those are just two of the pieces of literature I have read, and I'm sure like what you're studying they're amazing. If you don't think what you're studying now is great, then it's my job to make you believe in its greatness.

Hey! My name is Kate. I love teaching, in fact I think teaching, talking through my ideas is what helped me to obtain the highest level possible in my A-levels.
Usually lessons will be at least an hour, however we will finish what we have begun so dependent on the student and their preferences usually I may go a little over the hour, however I can stick strictly to the hour if preferred so! You will never get charged for any extra time spent.
The layout is completely up to you and is based around how you individually learn. Lessons can be purely based on or be a combination of content/exam questions/planning/quizzes/blurting/reading. Whatever works for you, I am open to suggestions :)
I studied English Language and English Literature at A-level which I loved. I find at GCSE many students feel less enthused about Language, but I believe it's often down to the way it's taught not the language itself. I really hope to make students see language differently, it's not just about keeping to a structure in an exam but about seeing how devices such as figurative language influence the literariness of a text.
I strive for excellence, I aim for the top. My view is if you aim for an A* you are more likely to get an A. However, it is also my view that not all students are looking to get the top, some just want to get that 5 in English to pass at GCSE, and that's completely fine too. I can cater for all students.
I teach from years 7-13, please do let me know the exam board and books your son/daughter is studying so I can get prepared.

Please note the £25 per lesson doesn't just include the lesson time but the time I will spend planning and preparing our lesson which often can take the same amount of time as the lesson. It also includes any extra time past the hour in the lesson.
