About Alice
I have been active as a private tutor since 2017, so have over nine years of experience in English Literature tuition. I have a wide variety of teaching styles depending on the student's needs: for one A-Level student, we spent the entire term going through 'Othello' line-by-line in advance of her Year 13 exams, doing a close analysis of linguistic devices. The student had been consistently achieving Bs in Year 12, but went onto gain an A* in her final exams. Other students, with less time available, benefit from thematic overviews or character profiles of the play or novel they're studying. Even with limited time, I can help your child achieve real success - another student leapt from a grade 4 to a 7 at GCSE after coming to me just 6 weeks before the exam. I have a strong track record of helping students achieve their best, based on nine years working as a private tutor. In my A-Level exams, I consistently achieved 100% UMS, and have good knowledge of the A-Level examination structure and system as a whole. I also received first-class marks for all three years of my Cambridge BA, and came 2nd in my cohort of 102 students. I achieved my PhD from Cambridge in 2024, and have been working as a postdoc in Oxford University for two years. As a tutor, I am friendly, patient and engaging. As several of my students have come to me with specific additional learning needs, I am experienced in helping students with ADHD and dyslexia.
