About Alessandra
I am currently an English Student at the University of York! I completed my a levels at Wycombe High School and achieved a High A, almost A*, in English. I have been teaching on and off for a few years now so I have adopted the skills that tutoring someone requires, including patience, motivation and persistence.

My teaching method usually revolves around discovering what teaching method would best suit a student. For some, lecture-style lessons where I’d be consistently giving a lot of information work wonders, whilst others benefit much more from active learning; getting things wrong a few times in order to be able to improve. With a subject like English, answers aren’t as straight forward as they are for something like maths or science, so I do believe that it is important to also teach students how to approach an English topic with an open mindset in order to do as well as they possibly can. Furthermore, I fully understand the frustration that can come from studying English, things such as seemingly not seeing the results of your revision and hard work; English is a fickle subject like that; so I do believe that it’s is important to boost a student’s confidence so that they don’t become their own biggest enemy.
