About Ian
Hey everyone, welcome to my profile! I'm Ian, I'm a CELTA-certified English professor from America, and I've taught English for more than 10 years in different countries around the world. If I haven't been to your country, you win an extra lesson! This is my reduced price because I'm new on superprof, so act fast! But I have a highly-rated and established profile on another online teaching platform, please ask for references if you want. People tend to like my lessons, and they tend to work with me for long periods. Besides being the cool English professor, I have many interests. I've studied and taught cinema production and analysis. I've written speeches for figures in a major hotel chain, and articles about art, culture, film, and music. Currently, I also enjoy music performance and production. I'm sure we will have something in common to talk about. I have a double degree from a prestigious American university (Cinema and PPE) and have taught myself French (Advanced), Russian (Intermediate), and Japanese (Lower-Intermediate). I'm now working on Thai. These experiences were vital for me as a teacher, as I could see my job from the other side, understand what it means to be the frustrated student. I've worked with a diverse group of clients, from major IT companies to professors in universities, to actors and directors in foreign film industries. I've helped them achieve their goals, from personal to professional. Looking for IELTS or TOEFL prep? You have the right teacher - I've not only prepared students for but have helped administer the test! Examples of recent projects: - Working with foreign IT professionals to improve their international business performance. - Coaching actors, directors, producers to improve their performances, their on-set communication and confidence, and their ability to operate in the industry. - Helping a group of IT workers obtain at least a 7 each on their IELTS so they could pursue their dream jobs overseas. They all managed to pull it off, one even with a 9! My methodology is CELTA-based but not limited to that. I take the ideas that are applicable to you and add in what we need to get you where you want to be.

If you happen to be in whatever country I'm currently in, face-to-face lessons are offered at no additional cost. If you wish to pay for the flight(s), I am possibly willing to travel for intensive sessions. Some clients and companies have used this for important projects, especially related to film or interviews.
