About Aneka
I am an English teacher working at the top mixed Grammar school in England. My lessons aim to enrich student learning and stretch and challenge them further. I have rich and diverse knowledge in my subject ranging from poetry and Shakespeare to 19th century fiction and modern prose/drama. For GCSE students, I'm familiar with the following texts: A Christmas Carol, Jane Eyre, Jekyll & Hyde, Frankenstein, Dracula, An Inspector Calls, The History Boys, Blood Brothers, DNA, Telling Tales, Anita and Me, Pigeon English, Animal Farm, 1984, Love & Relationships, Power and conflict and Time & Place. I'm familiar with the AQA, Edexcel and OCR specification. I'm also an examiner for AQA and OCR and teach the Edexcel specification at Upton Court Grammar. Having a young child in primary school, I understand why and how parents are eager for their children to be fully prepared for the 11+ examinations. My sessions can be tailored to your child's ability; full of thorough but more than adequate preparations specialising in vocabulary, Maths, English, Verbal-Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning and Creative Writing. I'm familiar with both CEM and GL specifications. I have also been an 11+ invigilator every year at Upton Court Grammar so I'm more than familiar with the whole process. On the other hand, I also tutor primary children aged 5-11 preparing them for their assessments ranging from Year 1 Phonics Screening Check and KS1 SATs to Year 4 Times Tables assessment and Year 6 SATs. I've tutored at least 20-30 children (both secondary and primary) and most of them have flourished in their assessments. One student, who was predicted a grade 7, managed to acquire a grade 8. Another student, who was predicted a grade 8, managed to achieve a grade 9 in their GCSEs. Also, one more student managed to move up two grade boundaries from 7 to 9. Likewise, with primary, students have become more confident with their phonics, English and Maths skills and have gone to achieve top results in their SATs; working at greater depth in the national curriculum. With tutoring, patience and resilience is key. Top grades aren't a miracle happening in a few days. However, I stick to being patient and not giving up on my students.

Every child is gifted and unwraps their packages at different paces. With my methodology, lessons are tailored to individual students' abilities - supporting them where they need it and stretching and challenging them where appropriate. Every child should be encouraged to aim for the moon. If they miss, they will land amongst the stars at least.
