About Elizabeth
I am a former certified English teacher (grades 6-12 in the U.S.) with extensive experience tutoring all ages, from first grade phonics to adult ESL. As a Fellow at a university Center for Writing and Scholarship, I created and led writing workshops and tutored graduate students across programs. I also taught English classes K-12 in Ukraine as a Peace Corps volunteer, and as an AmeriCorps member I managed a tutoring center for children that struggle with reading. Currently I work in academic publishing. I love helping students cultivate skill, joy, and confidence in their language abilities.
I am informed by the classical education tradition. Classical education involves the study and emulation of excellent works and methods that have withstood the test of time.

I appreciate how a relationship can be built and the lesson can be customized when tutoring one-on-one. This attention gives the student an opportunity to express confusion about or mastery of the topic and be seen as a developing individual. Perfect! We have had a great experience with Elizabeth. She did a thorough analysis for our son’s strengths and opportunities and recommended a well thought out plan.
