About Catie
I am originally from Akron, Ohio in the United States but have lived in countries such as Spain, Mexico, Chile, and Thailand. As you can tell, I love traveling and meeting foreigners. After graduating with a degree in psychology and philosophy in 2013, I moved to Madrid, Spain to become an ESL teacher. In that time, I taught over 30 private English classes to students from ages 2-35. Following those 2 years in Madrid, I moved to Mallorca and continued to teach ESL in a private school. In addition to being a teacher, I am also a singer and am incredibly passionate about music. I often use song lyrics to help teach English because it is more enjoyable and can be tailored to my students individually. Overall, I am a passionate person who loves to connect with others and I look forward to connecting with you soon!

I understand what it's like to learn another language since I moved to Spain with absolutely 0 Spanish. I learned through repetition, trying to speak as much as possible, constantly asking questions to natives, and being ok with making mistakes. I encourage my students to do the same.
When I teach English to my students, I make it all about speaking and comprehension. My first session is focused on getting to know you and everything you enjoy. This way, you will be more motivated to learn because they're topics you're interested in.
Since I love traveling, music, psychology, and philosophy, I often use these topics to get to know your culture better and for you to learn about American culture. I want our class to be more than grammar. I want it to be an exciting, enjoyable experience for you.
