I’m a young Chinese pianist based in the UK. My performances have been featured by Global Musician’s League, Artron, Malvern Gazette, Worcester News, Visit the Malvern, Elgar Festival 2025, and St Wulstan’s Catholic Church. In April 2022, I performed Francis Poulenc’s Piano Concerto with the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Symphony Orchestra, earning high praise from Graham Scott, Head of Keyboard at the Royal Northern College of Music, as well as from the public. In 2023, I was invited to the 1st Nanjing Youth Music Festival, where I gave concerts, masterclasses, and lectures. The festival, supported by the Culture and Tourism Bureau of Jianye District, Nanjing, was widely reported by Xinhua Net, Sohu, China Jiangsu Net, CRI Online, Litchi News, and China.com. In 2024, I was granted the UK Global Talent Visa in recognition of my artistic achievements. That year, I was successfully launched two recital series in the UK: “Soundbites Concerts” and “European Sonatas”, both of which received critical acclaim. I’m currently pursuing the Artist Diploma (the highest performance qualification) at the Royal College of Music, London. I’m previously earned her Master of Music and Honours Bachelor of Music degrees at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, where I was awarded a high scholarship, and before that studied at the Middle School Affiliated to Xinghai Conservatory of Music. In 2024, I was admitted to the Advanced Postgraduate Diploma (Level 8) programme at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and gave a widely attended online recital that attracted nearly 5,000 viewers, reported by Artron Art Network. The same year, I was invited as both a guest performer and jury member for the CSSA Warwick “Charm of Spring” Music Competition at the University of Warwick. As a piano teacher, I believe I possess both strong personal qualities and professional capabilities. In my 9 years previous teaching experience, I have guided over 100 piano students. One of my students won an award at the "CITTA' DI MASSA" International Music Competition, and all of my students have achieved a 100% pass rate in ABRSM exams. I helped a student from China successfully gain admission to the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, and Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. As a pianist who has studied in both China and the UK, I integrate the strengths of both countries’ piano education systems and apply them to meet the individual needs of each student. Throughout my past work experiences, I have gained many valuable skills. I would describe myself as a passionate, professional, and patient teacher. I always adapt my teaching methods and style according to each student’s individual needs. I maintain regular communication with parents, providing updates on learning progress and developing tailored study plans. I believe my students’ achievements, along with my nine years of teaching experience, are strong evidence of my effectiveness as an educator. I am also highly empathetic and patient. During my time as an international student mentor, my role was to help new international students adapt to both their academic and daily life environments. This required me to think carefully from their perspective, understand their needs, and offer timely support in all aspects—academic and personal. In addition, I am a strong team player. As a ballet accompanist, I collaborated closely with ballet teachers to provide the exact music and tempo they required. I also worked with fellow accompanists to find and prepare scores for various repertoires. As a piano teacher, I believe education is about lighting a fire, not filling a bucket. My goal is to inspire students’ passion for music, not just teach techniques. I focus on understanding each student’s needs, encouraging creativity, and building their confidence through patient and personalised guidance. I aim to create a positive learning environment where students feel motivated, supported, and free to express themselves. By helping them discover the joy of music, I hope to guide them toward lifelong appreciation and personal growth beyond the piano. I am confident that my background, mindset, and motivation have fully prepared me to take on this role and to continue contributing with enthusiasm, responsibility.

  • When did you first develop a passion for music and your favourite instrument?

I first developed my passion for music when I was in kindergarten at the age of five. Each classroom had a piano, and I remember watching my teacher play while I was just tall enough to see the piano keys moving up and down. I was fascinated by the sound and visual beauty of the instrument. From that moment, I became deeply interested in music and realised that I was very sensitive to musical expression.

At the same time, I also enjoyed singing and dancing, which further strengthened my love for music. My favourite instrument has always been the piano, which I now specialise in performing and teaching.
  • Is there a particular type of music or artist that you listen to on a loop without it driving you crazy?

I particularly enjoy listening to Bach and early classical composers. Their music is intellectually rich, structurally beautiful, and timeless. I find that I can listen to their works repeatedly and still discover new details and inspiration.

I also often listen to the pieces that I am currently practising or teaching, as this helps me deepen my musical understanding and provide better guidance to my students.
  • Explain to us the most difficult or riveting course you could personally give to a student of music.

I believe the most engaging and challenging course I offer focuses on balancing technical development with musical imagination and expression. I aim to create lessons that are inspiring, enjoyable, and highly interactive, while also encouraging students to think creatively and develop their own musical voice.

The real challenge is maintaining this engaging atmosphere while helping students build strong discipline and artistic understanding. I focus on inspiring students to develop imagination, musical storytelling, and emotional connection to the music, which I believe is essential for becoming a confident and expressive performer.
  • What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?

I believe every instrument is extremely difficult to master at a high level. Although I specialise in piano, I respect the complexity of all instruments because each requires different technical skills, musical understanding, and physical coordination.

The challenge lies not only in technical control but also in developing musical expression and artistic interpretation, which makes mastering any instrument a lifelong journey.
  • What are your keys to success?

I would not describe myself as someone who has fully achieved success yet, but I strongly believe that persistence and dedication are the most important keys to success. Progress in music requires patience, consistency, and long-term commitment.

I also believe that maintaining passion for music and continuously improving both as a musician and teacher are essential parts of success.
  • Name three musicians you dream of meeting in your favourite bar in the early hours of the morning. Explain why.

I would love to meet Bach, Mozart, and Schubert. Their music is incredibly beautiful, spiritual, and emotionally profound. Bach’s music demonstrates extraordinary structure and intellectual depth, Mozart’s music combines elegance and emotional clarity, and Schubert’s works are deeply expressive and lyrical. Meeting them would be an unforgettable opportunity to understand their creative inspiration and musical philosophy.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to music or your days at music school.

A particularly meaningful experience was working with my high school piano teacher. I originally did not receive highly professional piano training, but when I decided to specialise in music during high school, my teacher was very strict with me. At the same time, he was extremely supportive and encouraging.

His guidance pushed me to improve rapidly and helped shape my musical discipline and professional mindset. This experience significantly influenced my life and teaching philosophy, showing me that strong guidance combined with kindness can truly transform a student’s potential.
  • What are the little touches that make you a Superprof in music?

I place strong emphasis on understanding each student individually. I pay close attention to their learning style, personality, goals, and emotional responses during lessons. I believe teaching should be personalised and adaptable.

For younger students, I use encouragement and reward systems to maintain motivation and enjoyment. For more advanced students, I focus on helping them explore musical styles, interpretation, and artistic development while tailoring my teaching approach to their individual needs.

My goal is to create a supportive, inspiring, and structured learning environment where students feel confident, motivated, and excited to learn music.
