About Maggie
I'm a professional violist with a First-Class Honours BMus and a Distinction MMus in Orchestral Performance from the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama. I’ve performed and trained with Southbank Sinfonia and have taught violin and viola since 2016 in schools, music services, and private settings across London. As both a performer and educator, I bring energy, patience, and enthusiasm to every lesson. I'm passionate about making music accessible, engaging, and fulfilling for each student—regardless of age or ability. My teaching is rooted in strong technical foundations, creative expression, and a deep respect for the individuality of every learner. I’ve also worked with organisations such as the Benedetti Foundation and Sinfonia Smith Square, delivering outreach workshops and supporting young musicians from diverse backgrounds. This has shaped my inclusive approach and belief in the power of music to bring confidence and joy. As a conservatoire-trained violist with nearly a decade of teaching experience, I offer personalised violin and viola lessons tailored to each student’s needs, goals, and learning style. I believe in creating a positive, encouraging environment where students feel confident to grow, whether they’re picking up an instrument for the first time or preparing for advanced exams and auditions. My lessons typically run for 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the student’s age and level. I focus on building strong technical foundations while also nurturing musical expression and creativity. For younger learners, I use engaging, interactive methods to keep things fun and motivating. For older or more advanced students, I incorporate structured goal-setting, repertoire development, and performance preparation, including ABRSM exam support. I have been teaching violin and viola since 2016 across private settings, music services, and schools. My students range from complete beginners to advanced players, and I welcome learners of all ages—from young children to adults. Whether you’re looking to start a new musical journey or refine your playing, I’d love to help guide and support you!
