About Kenna
I have been described as a 'natural' teacher for as long as I can remember. I am hugely supportive and passionate about people's ability to learn and develop their skills. For me, passing an English exam is less about the knowledge of texts and language and more about the confidence to write about that knowledge. Instilling confidence in one's own abilities and initiative is vital to creating a strong learner.

I am an approachable tutor who focuses on the student's goals in each hour-long session. These goals are set by the student, giving them choice and agency over their own learning.
I have most experience with exam-level students and so we work on essay writing skills, as well as using discussion to provide more depth to the student's understanding of the literature or language requirements.
I graduated with an Honours degree in English Studies with Professional Secondary Education. For five years I worked in Scottish state schools and refined my experience with the Curriculum for Excellence, Nationals, Highers, and Advanced Highers. From there, I taught in an International School in Germany for a further two years. Whilst there, I gained experience teaching the English National Curriculum from Years 7 to 9, the IGCSE Language and IGCSE Literature for Y10 and 11, and then IB Language and Literature for Y12 and 13. I am proud of the results I have guided my students to gain and consider myself an excellent teacher and tutor.
I can design lessons for any secondary age student, but have particular experience tutoring Scottish Highers, IGCSE, and IB level.
