About Charlie
With 15 years of teaching experience across schools, colleges and universities in the UK and internationally, I bring a friendly, professional and supportive approach to every lesson. I have taught students from a wide range of backgrounds and abilities, helping them build confidence and make clear progress.
I hold a BA (Hons) in Chinese with English Literature and have extensive experience teaching English Language, English Literature, academic English and study skills. I currently teach at university level and have previously taught at college and university institutions, as well as working with international students and corporate clients.
I understand that every student learns differently, so I take time to identify individual strengths, weaknesses and goals before tailoring lessons accordingly. Whether a student needs help catching up, improving their exam technique or pushing towards higher grades, I aim to make lessons engaging, clear and focused on measurable progress.
My approach is patient and encouraging, while still maintaining high expectations. I want students to leave each lesson feeling that they have understood something better and are more confident than when they started.

I’m an experienced English teacher with 15 years of experience teaching students in the UK and internationally, from secondary school learners to university and postgraduate students. I have a BA (Hons) in Chinese with English Literature and extensive experience teaching English Language, English Literature, academic English and study skills.
My lessons are friendly, structured and tailored to each student’s needs. I focus on building confidence as well as improving knowledge and exam technique. Depending on the student, lessons may include working through texts, developing essay-writing skills, improving vocabulary and written accuracy, practising exam questions, or preparing for specific assessments.
I usually recommend 60-minute lessons, although this can be adapted depending on the student's age, level and requirements.
I teach GCSE students in English Language and Literature and can work with students who need extra support, want to improve their grades, or are aiming for the highest possible marks. I also have extensive experience supporting students who are studying English as an additional language.
