About Katie
have been teaching Geography for 11 years. I am so passionate about Geography and use this, along with my wide experience and commitment to enhance student engagement with the subject and reward themselves with better grades. I have also taught Year 6 English (ages 10-11) and am well suited to preparing students for entrance exams (11+ and independent school tests). Holding a Masters in Education as well as Bsc Geography means I take an active interest in the new Geography occurring everyday, but also in the new teaching techniques both in the classroom and using digital platforms. I pride myself on being able to bring Geography to life for my students, giving them a reason to study and making it applicable to their lives.
I began my teaching career in London where I taught for 3 years in a high performing academy before doing a two year stint in an excellent International School in Brunei. I then taught in Exeter for 4 years at a highly academic independent school, while tutoring alongside. In this time, I've tutored a great number of A Level students, from a range of exam boards and schools. Each have made phenomenal progress in their engagement in the subject as well as confidence. I have thoroughly enjoyed tutoring every single student and I am confident that I'm able to help you or your child make progress in Geography, whenever their needs.

My approach to tutoring will vary according to the needs of the student but I aim to engage and interest my students while providing them with guidance when completing past papers, model answers and online blogs. I will spend time marking work between sessions so that valuable feedback is given and discussed during our time together. Exam preparation is a stressful time for young people and I encourage a calm and focused lead up so that students approach their exam with confidence and enjoy their sessions with me.
