About Emily
I love to teach!
To me, teaching well is much like being an effective and caring parent. I have a 24-year-old daughter who has taught me as much about life as I have taught her.
Before teaching languages, I taught personal fitness for 18 years. My students are my charges and taking care of their progress is a daily goal.
I'm vested in my student's success and conduct my lessons in a light-hearted and supportive manner.

My teaching method includes getting to know the student's interests, priorities, and goals in wanting to learn English or Portuguese as a second language.
A typical lesson plan takes these points into account and is based on developing basic conversational skills; learning the usage of verbal tenses and conjugations; gender agreements; and other essential grammatical structures. At every lesson, I use videos, podcasts, and news articles to increase the student's cultural awareness about the US and Brazil.
What sets me apart as a tutor is that I am completely bicultural, lived and was educated in Brazil, the US, and Switzerland, and speak both languages as a native.
My lessons are perfect for individuals who are being transferred to Brazil or the US for their work; professionals who deal with entities in either country; and those who just want to learn a new language or expand their knowledge of it.
