About James
I am a passionate and dedicated chemistry tutor and teacher who aims to foster a love and strong understanding of an incredible subject. I have taught across multiple schools, including my current position at a leading UK private school, with experience spanning AQA, Edexcel, and OCR at A-Level, GCSE, and IGCSE.
Chemistry is a fascinating subject, and I believe the key to student progress lies in fostering genuine curiosity and enthusiasm. When students understand the "why" behind the science, confidence and results naturally follow.
I assess every student's understanding from the outset and tailor lessons to address individual needs. My approach combines clear explanations, real-world applications, and targeted exam techniques to build both knowledge and confidence.
Lessons are typically one hour and are suitable for GCSE, IGCSE, and A-Level students of all abilities.
I hold a degree from the University of Bristol and a Professional Graduate Diploma in Education from UCL.

Lessons are conducted face-to-face or online, typically lasting an hour. Sessions will start with an assessment of the students' underlying understanding, followed by tailor-made lesson plans to help them achieve their full potential in the subject and to foster a greater understanding of the subject.
We will cover a mixture of core syllabus content, exam preparation and techniques, and preparation for practical chemistry assessments.
I specialise in chemistry A-level, IGCSE and GCSE, but I can provide expert support for physics and biology I/GCSE.
