About Lucia
I've been working as a private tutor since 2012 and have a postgraduate degree in Business, along with experience in education and training, including higher education and professional settings.
I enjoy helping students overcome difficulties with Maths and discover that, with the right support and explanations, even challenging topics can become much easier to understand.
I provide Maths tuition for Primary, KS3 and GCSE students, adapting my approach to each student's abilities, learning style and individual needs.
I understand that every child learns differently and that difficulties with Maths can sometimes affect their confidence. I take a patient, encouraging and structured approach, making sure students feel comfortable asking questions and working through problems at their own pace.
I keep up to date with the Maths curriculum and the topics students commonly find challenging, allowing me to provide focused support where it's needed most.
My aim is not simply to help students get the right answers, but to make sure they understand the reasoning behind them, develop their problem-solving skills and become more confident, independent learners.

My lessons are tailored to each student's needs, whether they need help keeping up with schoolwork, filling gaps in their knowledge, preparing for exams or improving their confidence in Maths.
I usually start by getting to know the student, understanding what they're currently studying and identifying the areas where they need the most support. From there, we can work together on a plan that suits their level, pace and goals.
I explain concepts clearly and break down more difficult topics into manageable steps, using practical examples and plenty of guided practice. I encourage students to ask questions, think independently and develop strategies they can use confidently on their own.
For GCSE students, I also focus on exam preparation, practising different types of questions and developing the skills needed to approach exams with greater confidence.
Above all, I want students to feel supported and motivated, recognise their progress and develop a more positive attitude towards Maths.
Lessons are available online or face-to-face in London and Greater London.

- Dear Katerina, It was lovely meeting your daugther yesterday. She was really attentive and keen to learn, and she was very proud to tell me how well she knows her times tables.Lucia's response :
She told me about a few things she wasn’t sure of, so we spent some time on multiplying by 10, 100 and 1,000, factors, prime numbers and prime factors, and numbers in the thousands and millions. When we talked them through, she picked things up quickly. I think she mainly needs a bit of reassurance and clear explanations, followed by a chance to practise using what she’s learnt.
We also started a Year 5 autumn assessment to see where she might need some extra help. The word problems took a bit longer, so that’s something I’d like to work on with her. I’d suggest finishing the assessment first, then going through any gaps topic by topic.
I really enjoyed working with her. If you’d like to carry on with lessons, I can put a plan together once we’ve finished the assessment.

My daughter went from an E/D grade to receiving A in her GCSE exam after working only a few months with Lucia. But most importantly her confidence in learning and a love of Spanish was restored after a truly negative school experience.
Lucia is unfailingly kind and conscientious. My daughter has improved her grades at GCSE level within a term through having had fewer than ten lessons with Lucia so far. I wholeheartedly recommend her for confidence building in all the skills required for learning Spanish.
