About Ruby
I’m a piano tutor with 2 years of experience mentoring students in Berklee, Juilliard, and conservatory-level jazz programs. I hold a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) in Piano Performance, and I’m passionate about helping students unlock their creative and technical potential. My lessons focus on advanced jazz performance, improvisation, and expressive interpretation.
We explore chord voicings, scales, and harmonic progressions to build a deep understanding of jazz language. I guide students through standards, contemporary jazz works, and original compositions. Each lesson is tailored to their goals, strengths, and challenges. I emphasize both technical precision and musical intuition, encouraging students to play with freedom and emotion.
I also cover sight-reading, ensemble skills, and performance preparation for auditions and recitals. Lessons blend disciplined practice with creative exploration. I help students discover their own voice at the keyboard. Together, we develop technique, artistry, and the confidence to perform jazz at the highest level.

My teaching approach is designed for students who want to play modern pop music on piano. I focus on pop piano techniques, playing by ear, chord voicings, and arranging contemporary pieces. Lessons help students perform their favorite songs with confidence and style.
I combine hands-on practice, improvisation, and creative exercises to keep learning fun. Students explore rhythm, dynamics, and voicing choices to make songs sound full and lively. I emphasize expression, creativity, and practical skills they can use right away.

My goal is to develop skill, musical independence, and enjoyment in playing. Together, we unlock the secrets of pop piano and turn songs into performances you’ll love.
