About Timi
Hello! I’m an experienced English Language Tutor and former IELTS Examiner with a passion for helping adults achieve real progress in their communication and exam goals. I have taught learners from around the world, guiding them to build confidence, accuracy, and fluency in English. I hold a PhD in English Language Teaching and Applied Linguistics from the University of Warwick, along with an M.Ed in Trainer Development and a DipMPhil in Educational Research from the University of Exeter, a Cambridge CELTA from London, and a BA (Hons) in English Language from the University of Port Harcourt. Over the years, I have developed a reputation for being patient, supportive, and highly professional. My lessons are carefully structured to meet each student’s needs, whether you’re preparing for the IELTS test, improving academic writing, or enhancing everyday communication. I believe learning should be motivating and empowering. My goal is to help you understand English deeply, use it confidently, and see measurable improvement in every lesson. With my background as a teacher, examiner, and trainer, you can trust that you’re learning from someone who knows what works — and who genuinely wants you to succeed.

I believe learning English should be engaging, practical, and personal. Every student is different, so I begin by understanding your goals, learning style, and current level. Whether you’re aiming for a higher IELTS band, improving your confidence in speaking, or developing your writing for academic or professional use — your lessons will be tailored to you. My classes are interactive and focused on real communication. I use a mix of conversation practice, grammar and vocabulary work, authentic IELTS materials, and examiner-style feedback to help you improve quickly. I also help you understand what examiners are looking for so you can approach each test section with confidence and strategy. Lessons usually last 60 to 90 minutes, depending on your needs and availability. Each session has a clear goal — for example, mastering a question type, developing fluency, or improving writing coherence. I hold a PhD in English Language Teaching and Applied Linguistics (University of Warwick), along with an M.Ed in Trainer Development (Exeter), DipMPhil in Educational Research (Exeter), Cambridge CELTA (London), and BA (Hons) in English Language (Port Harcourt). As a former IELTS Examiner, I bring insider knowledge that helps my students perform at their best. My lessons are designed for adult learners at intermediate to advanced levels who want to achieve real progress in their English skills or succeed in the IELTS exam. I’ve taught students from all over the world, and I enjoy helping each one reach their personal and professional goals through effective, supportive, and enjoyable learning experiences.
