Hello, and welcome to my tutoring profile.
My name is Dr Ngonidzashe Masunga, and I am a dedicated educator with over 14 years of experience teaching and tutoring Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. I hold a PhD in Chemistry and have extensive experience working with high school students, including those following the Cambridge IGCSE, AS Level, and A Level curricula.
Throughout my career, I have helped students improve their understanding of challenging concepts, boost their confidence, and achieve excellent academic results. My teaching philosophy is based on making learning engaging, practical, and tailored to each student's individual needs. I am a highly experienced private tutor with more than 14 years of teaching and tutoring experience in mathematics, physics, and chemistry. I hold a PhD in chemistry and have extensive experience teaching both the Cambridge curriculum and mainstream high school syllabi. My passion is helping students build confidence, develop strong problem-solving skills, and achieve outstanding academic results.
My tutoring methodology is student-centered and tailored to each learner's individual needs, strengths, and learning style. I begin by assessing the student's current understanding of the subject and identifying any knowledge gaps. From there, I develop a structured learning plan that focuses on mastering key concepts before progressing to more advanced topics.
I believe that true understanding comes from learning the "why" behind concepts rather than simply memorizing formulas and procedures. Therefore, I emphasize conceptual understanding and critical thinking, step-by-step problem-solving techniques, exam and test preparation strategies, regular practice using worked examples and past examination papers, continuous feedback and progress monitoring.
What makes me unique is the vast experience of about 14 years of tutoring experience teaching Cambridge IGCSE, AS Level, and A Level Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.
Moreover, my ability to simplify complex concepts into easy-to-understand explanations. I also focus on personalized lessons designed around each student's goals and pace, with a strong focus on improving confidence, independent learning, and academic performance.
The lessons are primarily conducted in English, with each typical lesson including the following: a review of previous work and clarification of difficult concepts, an introduction and explanation of new topics, guided examples and interactive discussions. Furthermore, practice exercises with real-time support, exam-style questions and problem-solving activities.
Students are encouraged to ask questions freely, and lessons are conducted in a supportive, patient, and engaging environment.
