About Andrew
I have been teaching in a range of schools since 1998, focusing on Sixth Form/FE since 2011. In that time I have held a range of responsibilities and supported my development by working for exam boards to mark A-level English Literature papers. Most recently I combined teaching English with responsibility for pastoral care within a large college and therefore have experience of helping students with their UCAS applications.

Lessons and support sessions have to be based around both the needs of the individual and a knowledge of the assessment criteria. It's vital to understand what a student already knows and to help them to apply their understanding to assessment objectives for each part of the exam. However, this is not a box ticking exercise, it has to be a focus on developing depth of knowledge and the skills required to express this knowledge.
