About Karin
I've been directing since 2002, producing and directing full length and short plays, as well as film shorts. I studied directing at Towson University, trained with the Tom Todoroff Studio, and continued my education at Actors Connection. I am currently acting as a dramaturg and director while offering coaching sessions.
Very early during my college courses, I found acting wasn't as large a passion for me as coaching. Assisting my fellow students with prep for auditions or class scene work was entirely captivating. At the time, I moved my track of study to directing and have never lost the passion for honing a student's focus and opening their understanding of their character. I have been directing for 15 years now, and I love every moment of it.

I like to spend the first 10-15 minutes of a session having them explain their understanding of their character and the piece. If they are working on an excerpt from a larger piece, I'd like to hear how this piece fits into that story. After table work, and depending on time booked, I like to see the full piece on its feet, then break up sections to focus on beats individually before stringing them together.
I prefer students be entirely off book, but will make exceptions for short notice/audition pieces.

Karin's knowledge of an actor's process makes her approach to coaching invaluable. She understands the needs of an actor, while also bringing to the table the eye of a director. She will help you hone your craft, while preparing you for working with directors.
Karin directed me in a play called "Proof" by David Auburn, and was able to elevate my performance to the point that I felt lost in the story.
