I love when clients feel confident, succeed and reach their goals! It's so exciting to hear when they book!
I was offered a teaching position at Northwestern University, my alma mater, to substitute one year after I graduated, and the students were so enthused by my work they wrote to the department chair to ask me to stay on. I did for a year! I currently work 1:1 with acting students and also teach filmmaking at UCLA Extension.
I have worked for 20 years in the industry as an actor, director & award-winning choreographer. I've been successfully coaching actors for 15 years to great successes. I am originally from Chicago and my teaching is towards a very practical style: action based, acting -- getting to the essence of what you're physically and essentially doing so you can toss away nerves and bring the play to the room. This way of working allows you to show your best self and know what the character is *doing* so you as the actor need to only play this action.

First, I assess the student's goals, needs and experience. Second I learn about what they've already learned, either in previous acting training or in a job or experience non-related to the arts. Third, I create a common language translating their previous experiences with the methods in The Practical Handbook for The Actor, a utilitarian-style method of acting founded on the basis of Stanislavski's principles.
I currently teach Directing I at UCLA Extension. I've also coached college auditions, high school students, Broadway professionals, professional actors in film and television.
Be thorough - makes sure the things you read from a teacher resonates with the work you'd like to do.
Recently taught at Orange County School of the Arts and working on actions - watching lightbulbs go off in the students is so exciting! I have great success with actors of all abilities and ages, and am able to communicate principles of acting in a clear, relatable and enjoyable format.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Ask to see what a teacher's approach is or how they might approach a certain monologue or scene. You're the client and it's you're time -- make sure the person you're working with is a professional and isn't trying to sell you their "method." There are a lot of ways of working but make sure you enter into a practice which keeps you emotionally safe but expressive as it relates to the script. A studio that promises crying on cue you might want to skip. :)

Perfect! She is one of the best coaches I have ever had the opportunity to work with! She is always so professional and has helped me grow in my acting experience immensely. She has been the realest person to talk to about the acting and film industry and doesn’t sugarcoat anything and gives me the facts. **Review for Jessica Redish Acting Lessons**
I can’t recommend Jessica enough! From the very first class, I was immediately struck by how supportive, challenging, and fun their teaching style is. They know how to create an environment where you feel comfortable yet pushed to grow.
One of the biggest breakthroughs for me was learning how to truly be “in the moment” during scenes. Jessica helped me shed any preconceptions and allowed me to focus on my reactions and instincts, making my performances more authentic. The improvement in my script analysis was also noticeable after just the first lesson—what seemed complicated and overwhelming at first became clear and manageable.
Thanks to their guidance, I gained a level of confidence I didn’t know I had. Whether it's honing specific techniques or developing the courage to explore new parts of a character, Jesisca knows exactly how to challenge you while offering the support you need to succeed.
If you're looking for a coach who will push you to your fullest potential while fostering a positive, creative atmosphere, Jessica is the one. I can’t wait to continue learning from them!Perfect! I am new to acting and Jessica definitely helped me to begin and understand what I needed to know to get me started. She is great for any beginning student.
Perfect! Jessica is an awesome instructor. She is organized, knowledgeable, dependable and funny! She makes each session productive and fun. I have learned so much by working with her.

Jess is SO FUNNY, so accessible, and ridiculously skilled at her job. She has a tremendous eye and a terrific way of communicating what will make any scene, moment or character stronger and more specific. She gets results fast. She's wonderful with all genres and is also just a lot of fun to be around. Highly recommend for all ages and skill levels, beginner to professional.
As a young actor, I quickly learned that success relies on a solid foundation of preparation, confidence, and understanding. What Jessica brings to the discipline is tireless passion, contagious ambition, and the intellect to put it all together. What I believe Jessica has mastered is challenging the truth of the individual by discovering the deeply committed artist within. The result is not only a more meaningful experience, but the conviction to take risks and make bold choices. The discoveries I made through my work with Jessica not only resulted in an invitation to the school of my dreams, but have become essential to the survival of my career!
Jessica Redish is an inspiring and intelligent artist to train under. Jessica teaches you to be fearless and to tell a story truthfully. When I was preparing for my college auditions, Jessica helped me to understand that acting is not just performing, but living. Her knowledge and understanding of text helped me to discover the importance of every word I say as an actor, and I carry her advice with me in every audition and performance I give. The sessions I have spent training with Jessica have been joyful and exciting! I look forward to every opportunity I have to work with her and I look to Jessica as a wonderful role model both in the theatre and as a human being,"
Jessica always has good ideas to add layers to the context of any character or song. She is very down to earth which helps the performer feel safe to play around with the character or song in different ways. Her experience in the industry helps with preparing for auditions or career planning in general. I truly value her as someone I can trust to help make me me a better and empowered actress and performer.
We worked organically. Profesh but fun. Instilled confidence in my strengths.
Jess really helped me become more naturalistic in my sitcom pilot. She is a brilliant treasure.
