About Joshua
I love working one-on-one in topics of political science and history - two subjects I've spent over a decade getting hands on experience with. My first job out of college was working in the White House, I've worked in numerous state and local governments, and was elected to local office in 2020. I've traveled through parts of Asia, Africa, and Europe to see some of the world's wonders and the areas steeped in history.
I've tutored and mentored numerous students starting in High School and through current day on any number of subjects, but I most love working with others on history, political science, and social sciences. I have bachelor's degrees in Political Science and Economics, regularly receieved academic acollades in school, and love providing a supportive atmosphere for students to feel comfortable and pursue success both in and out of the classroom.
Many of my family members have been teachers and I grew up spending weekends and Summers in classrooms - by the time I was in high school I regularly worked with struggling students after school to improve their grades and assist with homework. Those opportunities have continued to present themselves for the last ten years and I've always helped how I could and saw signiificant benefit to those I've tutored.

Speaking with the student on what they're trying to achieve and in what timeframe. Engaging you on where you're at in understanding the topic, focusing on your strengths, and how you best learn. By understanding what you want and what you need, I can reframe the topic so it makes sense to you and comes more naturally.
I've worked with straight A students to students who had little support at home and who's grades were failing. I've tutored students who came from disadvantaged economic positions and those who's familys had great economic means.
A teacher with real world experiece in a topic is going to help any student ground the topic in what it means for you personally and make it real. Knowing how and why something is important and what it means to you can give you passion and more eager to learn about the topic. History and politics are as old as humanity - why the world is as it is can be found in both and help those who want to be successful achieve their goals.
