About Kassidy
I have a background in tutoring and facilitation ranging from toddlers to older community college students! I have facilitated in the following roles: a community college English and ESL tutor, a newspaper editor for various college publications, an afterschool art instructor (K-5th), and as a STEAM Educator at a children's museum (ages 0-12). I think that having all of these different pieces making up my background gives me a different perspective on the learning process and how best to connect with students when chipping away at a project or focusing on understanding new concepts. The best thing I learned through these different positions is the role of patience and facilitation, versus lecturing or giving away easy answers. What brings me joy is guiding students through their own process and get them to a place where they feel comfortable working out solutions on their own.
What I love most about tutoring is how it becomes a group effort between me and the student. We're both working towards the same goal and figuring out ways to better understand each other and learn more about the subject at hand. Tutoring to me, at its core, is all about collaboration, patience, and trust! I love being able to help students figure out their learning process so that, not only are we able to solve what might be right in front of us, but they can leave our session feeling more comfortable with their own set of tools to bring to future learning.
