About CELESTE
I offer a stress-free, user-friendly environment. I am trained to interact with students holistically as I acknowledge that each student presents a different set of needs with unique backgrounds, abilities, and circumstances.
I have over 25 years of classroom experience teaching Language Arts at the secondary level and my doctoral focus was Leadership in Higher Education. I served as the ESL Coordinator and Grants Writer for the Broward Community Schools South Broward Campus in Hollywood, FL for several years and my passion and specialty is critical thinking, literature, and writing.
I prefer to schedule half-hour sessions twice a week rather than full one-hour sessions. That way we can start an assignment, and reconnect later in the week after you have had time to work on it independently, much like a traditional classroom model.
I like to keep our sessions light and provide immediate feedback. I always look for positive progress and make it my mission to leave each session where my student feels empowered, confident, and eager to take on whatever challenge lay before us.
I started in corporate America and found that I had a penchant for customer service. I was great at letter writing and explaining things to my customers and my supervisor recommended that I focus on training new hires. From there it seemed only natural that I switch my major to education and I have enjoyed my career ever since.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, a Master of Science degree in Secondary Education, and a Specialist degree in Leadership in Higher Education. I worked for twenty-five years as a Language Arts teacher in grades 8-12, taught ESL to adults, and counseled senior high school students in college readiness. I am a published author and specialize in technical/academic writing.

We generally open with check-in so that we can ascertain the level of motivation on the part of the student. I allow the student to present any needs, concerns, or questions that developed in class since the last tutoring session. Lastly, if time permits, we cover skills that will augment the student's current level of mastery in areas like reading, critical thinking and writing.
I have taught middle school through adult.

Celeste worked with 2 of my children, one a middle schooler and the other a High Schooler. Celeste was a miracle worker and took two boys with little motivation to become serious over-achieving students. Results: One son got into FSU (Celeste helped with the application essay) and the other is now a straight-A student in honors and AICE classes. Complete transformation. Thank you, Celeste.
The best teacher I ever have had!
First of all, she is a very special person and highly skilled. She is not just teaching me about grammar she is teaching me about life. She has the ability to keep me motivated and eagle to learn.
She is a trail blazer showing the paths and always give the alternatives to you choose your own path, what make very easy to learn about anything you want to learn.
I really recommend her services!
For last but not less important, I wish I could met her several years ago so that my English would be much better.1-2-1 Teaching and Support gave me such a personalized experience. Instead of being given the answers, I was encouraged to think freely and explore and dive into my own ideas. I felt inspired in my own work and have learned to look forward to each session.
Within a few of her lessons with Celeste, I was able to pass the Reading and Writing segments for the PERT test.
